Document, Standardize, and Maintain the Customs Operation You're Already Running

Your purchase order, your carrier pickup, your customs clearance, your delivery, your payment, every step touches your customs department. If those processes aren't documented, reviewed, and updated regularly, you're carrying operational risk that compounds with every staff change or process change. We build and maintain the centralized library that fixes the problem.

Why This Matters

If you're an Importer, your customs department's systems and processes are some of the most important operational elements of your supply chain. They determine whether shipments clear on time, whether duties are paid correctly, whether records survive a verification review, and whether new staff can be onboarded without disrupting the operation.

In most operations, these processes are pushed to the 'Projects Parking Lot' because the day-to-day pressure to ship product never lets up. This program fixes that, without forcing your team to do the documentation work themselves.

How the Program Works

We start by meeting with your team to understand your current systems and processes and what you've already documented. We build a centralized documentation library that your team and authorized stakeholders can access. Our team reviews and updates existing documentation and performs a gap analysis to identify what's missing, then either drafts the missing documentation or reviews drafts your team prepares internally.

Once complete, the library can either transfer to your systems or remain hosted on ours. The program scales to multiple business divisions and to acquisitions you make in the future.

Reporting and Visibility

Our reporting portal gives you real-time visibility into the documentation in progress, the gap analysis findings, and the remediation status. Your team can review and provide feedback on its schedule.

The Dominion Commitment

Our team collaborates with yours to build the Customs Systems and Processes Library on a defined timeline. We review documentation together until you've provided written confirmation that the revised version is accurate and complete.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from the compliance benchmarking program?

Benchmarking assesses customs operations against best practices and produces a risk-ranked remediation plan. Systems and Processes Assessment focus specifically on documentation, building the library that makes day-to-day operations sustainable through staff changes and growth. Many clients run both, with Benchmarking informing what needs to be documented.

Where does the library live?

Your choice - on your systems (SharePoint, Confluence, your DMS) or on ours. We've supported both. The decision usually comes down to your IT environment and your preferred integration with adjacent systems.
